TerraSphere B.V. has a long-standing track record (> 10 years) in the application of remote sensing in the agricultural sector in the Netherlands and beyond. TerraSphere is founded in 2008 and relies on a solid experience of over ten years in the mapping business and share both an academic (Wageningen University) and professional (Synoptics, Vexcel, Microsoft) background. TerraSphere offers Geo ICT solutions through satellite mapping and GIS-analysis in the agricultural sector, combining competences in the fields of Remote Sensing, Hydrology, Agriculture & GIS programming. TerraSphere provides custom mapping products based on satellite imagery to various companies (Arcadis, Microsoft) and government agencies. The company is involved in technical studies and training events for International Agencies (European Space Agency, European Commission). TerraSphere produces biomass index maps of individual parcels based on satellite imagery throughout the growing season. The maps allow farmers to monitor crop growth. The maps can be used as a basis for variable rate application of herbicides, nutrients, or as guidance for soil sampling. TerraSphere biomass data serve as a basis to the Cropview service ( that was initiated during the EPD Geologisch project ( In the EU-FP6 project FieldFact, Terrasphere was responsible for the Spatial Data Issues related to the use of GNSS in the agricultural sector. TerraSphere provided biomass index maps as a basis for the Fieldfact High End Demonstrator on Variable Rate Application.
